New Dean of Students

Navarre Kerr is the Dean of Students at Hollywood Hill. As Dean, Navarre wears many hats—both figuratively and literally (his daily hat collection makes him a familiar and approachable presence on campus). He works to cultivate a school culture centered on respect, accountability, and personal growth. With a deep commitment to student success, he fosters an environment where every student feels valued and empowered while maintaining high expectations for behavior and self-improvement. His approach is rooted in understanding, dignity, and agency, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected in every situation.

Though this is his first year at Hollywood Hill, Navarre brings a wealth of experience to the role. Prior to joining the team, he served as the dean of students for one year at Skyview Middle School and for six years at Northshore Middle Schoo and began his career in the district as a paraeducator at Canyon Park Middle School.

Beyond his work in education, Navarre has dedicated nearly his entire adult life to mentoring and supporting individuals through pivotal life transitions. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington Bothell, double majoring in Community Psychology and Media & Communication Studies with a minor in Human Rights. During his time at UWB he served as an orientation leader for incoming students and resident advisor for students living on campus. He also took on a role as a community service organizer and created lasting volunteer partnerships between the university and various nonprofits, leading over 600 service hours and pioneering long-term paid student service positions to sustain his impactful work.

Following graduation, Navarre extended his commitment to youth development by working at the Northshore YMCA, where he supported children and teens ranging from infancy to high school. As coordinator of Hang Time, an after-school program offering academic and social enrichment, he transformed student engagement, growing daily attendance from 8 to 61 students. His leadership also extended to teen summer camps, where he guided middle and high school students through immersive field trips and outdoor adventures across the Pacific Northwest.

Outside of his professional role, Navarre is an avid Pokémon enthusiast, photographer, disc golf player, and fan of metal music. He also has a knack for clever puns/dad jokes and trivia. Most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his beloved cats."
